This is where it all started for me but times change and now all of my blogging takes place over at my
Quilt Routes blog and I hope you will join me over there.

and finally

I added some bling to the last of my Gelli Plate printed experiments.

I have also played around with a different finishing, which seems to be a never ending quest for me these days.

Also, I find that my recent clearing up has allowed me to access the rail for taking photos again :)

Linking Up! Have you got anything to share?

The problem...

...with not stitching the life out of something is that I don't like the puffy parts!

I am trying to just play and not worry as these really are just experiments in design and technique.
I am liking the printing and stamping but trying to figure out a middle ground, incorporating paint (colour) and stitch (texture).

This is how this piece started. Can you see how where I cut through it?

apologies for the "gloomy" shots but it is a gloomy day

I have taken ...

...a bit of a detour this week while waiting for some thread to be delivered. This is a small piece done on my experimental Gelli Plate printed fabrics.
Below are some peeks at the other two (not quite finished) that I shared on Instagram this week.

I have also been enjoying the lovely autumn sunshine that we have had on some days this week.

The Common Hogweed no less!

I stand corrected.
It was pointed out to me by a friend that the big tall stuff that looks like Cow Parsley but grows really tall over your head it actually Hogweed.

Last week's piece

So it is Hogweed that had inspired me, and not Cow Parsley. I need to go and make a few edits!

This week's piece

It all belongs to the same Apiaceae family, which also includes Queen Anne's Lace, which is the nicer name from the bunch.

In fact it is Common Hogweed to give it it's full description!

This brings me onto choosing a name for these pieces.
Derbyshire Dreaming is all I have been able to come up with, as that is where I was when I was inspired to do these. Technically I was in Staffordshire too, but I prefer to choose a name that is not so specific to a place. I like it when people see something meaningful to themselves.
I can't tell how many times people have said to me "oh that is from......." when seeing my Pebble Stack, which is nice.

another background

and another
Any ideas will be gratefully received.

P.S. On a totally unrelated topic, I have been getting a lot of "no reply blogger" comments lately. I have tried to answer questions on the blog but I am not entirely sure if the person asking the question ever gets to see it, so I have decided to scrap that and simply state that if you want a response to your comment you need to not be a N.R.B (no reply blogger).
It's Google+ that is at fault. Some of you probably are unaware that you are an N.R.B. Here is a link that tells you why you are and what to do if you wish to change it.

Playing Around with Cow Parsley

Here is my first finished piece depicting cow parsley, in what I would say is my normal style.

Here is a peek at my big green piece and it has also grown some cow parsley. I am not ready to share this yet. It still needs a lot of work even though I have already covered it in at least a million stitches. I think it will be a while because I just tend to work for short bursts while I think a.bout what to do next.

I have been continuing to experiment with lino cuts on paper, of which there are a lot...

...and on fabric. I think I will do some stenciling on these next.
