Working Wednesday

This is what I am working on at the moment.

Now the plan was to put all these blocks together as shown above, but despite my best efforts to be exact and precise in my cutting and stitching, some blocks (well most to be honest) have come out short, measuring 5 1/4 inch instead of the 5 1/2 that I wanted. I have noticed that the inch measurements in my ruler and the inch measurements on my cutting mat don't match up, and perhaps my 1/4 inch foot is not exact. I don't know what I am doing wrong. It's all very frustrating!

Never mind. There is always a way around these problems and that is why I am going to add strips around each block and trim up later. Just need to decide on what colour to go for.

My preference is for the darker shade which I know will look very similar to this but I have rather a lot of pink and purple 'layer' fabrics that I am determined to use up.
