Indian Inspired

Years ago in another life when I was young free and single, I travelled around India. The pieces you see above I bought in .

An article in Quilting Arts by Jill Kennedy called Florabundance shows how to use paper and wax colours to produce a background for adding stitch. Using the Indian pieces as a design source I made this piece.

Detail

I really enjoyed being able to add lots of stitch without the worry of the background fabric puckering up. The addition of fusible webbing on the top (before stitching) gives the piece a leather like texture.

The circle theme has been carried on in this little piece done for a class I teach. This piece was simply constructed. Just raw edged applique.

  1. I love your technique, in the circle piece on the bottom did you use any fusable web or the like?

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I do try to respond to each one but
if you do not hear from me it is probably because you are a "no reply blogger".
